Building an Immersive Future for SEN Education
An interactive, virtual classroom for the Learning in Harmony Trust
"This is the first installation we have completed within the Learning in Harmony Trust, and with further rooms already in discussion, it marks an exciting start to what we hope will be a long and impactful partnership."
We are delighted to announce the completion of our latest immersive room installation at JFK Special School, part of the Learning in Harmony Trust. Planned as part of a new build extension to the school, the room was designed to deliver the full Aurora immersive experience from day one, including three-wall projection, interactive floor technology, scent, wind, and intuitive controls. The result is a vibrant, fully equipped learning space that will benefit students for years to come.
The Brief
JFK Special School, working with our partner Converge Technology Solutions, came to us with a clear vision: a fully immersive room as part of a new build extension, complete with three-wall projection, an interactive floor, scent and wind effects, ceiling-mounted audio, and straightforward controls any member of staff could use with confidence. Planning the room from scratch gave us the chance to specify layout, infrastructure and equipment from the outset, resulting in a clean, well-considered installation.
The Process
With multiple contractors sharing the same space, including architects, builders, electricians, and ventilation and air conditioning teams, communication was critical throughout. We attended regular project meetings to keep the school's requirements at the centre of every decision. Working with Converge is always a straightforward process, and their involvement helped us manage the complexity of the wider build without losing focus on what mattered most: delivering an outstanding space for JFK's students.
The Results
The finished room measures 4.3m x 3.5m with a 2.7m ceiling. Three Epson projectors deliver seamless wall projection, whilst a ceiling-mounted Wizefloor One transforms the floor into a fully interactive learning surface. Scent delivery and a wind machines bring environments to life, and control via touch screen tablet keeps sessions accessible for any member of staff.
This is the first installation we have completed within the Learning in Harmony Trust, and with further rooms already in discussion, it marks an exciting start to what we hope will be a long and impactful partnership.
